Family Focus Day

For the second consecutive year, the NIPSTA Foundation is sponsoring Family Focus Day as an opportunity for emergency workers - and their family members - to access specialized services to help them deal with the challenges and rigors of their daily routines.  A healthy work-life balance is essential to maintaining productive relationships, both on the job and at home.

On June 3rd, dozens of professional resources will be available at NIPSTA to address topics such as nutrition, insurance, personal finance, health & wellness, addictive behavior, and more.  Admission is available to all at no cost.  The day's agenda includes educational workshops, kid-friendly activities, door prizes, raffles, and free food and beverages.  To learn more about this event, click here.

NIPSTA NOTES

It’s Driver Training Season

NIPSTA offers a three-day tactical driver training curriculum and a one-day recertification program that provide for the safety of department personnel, and the residents they serve.  This instruction is intended to enhance driving skills by combining classroom education with practical exercises.  Program success is measured on a pass/fail basis and requires student proficiency on a written exam and in simulations on the NIPSTA Driver Training Pad.

Numerous training dates are scheduled throughout the year in order to provide as many opportunities as possible for improvement of on-the-job performance.  Driving activities are intense, but performed in a safe environment at controlled speeds.  Departments that participate in this comprehensive, proactive program will reduce their accident rates and liabilities.

Register soon because sessions are beginning to fill quickly!
